Economy And Politics: Are They Really Different, Or Two Faces Of The Same Cycle?
The Invisible Difference Between Power And Poverty
Economy and politics are always intertwined.
There is, in fact, no real difference between a king and a party leader who comes to power through elections.
One inherits a managed legacy, the other is chosen by the people.
From the perspective of a poor person, this distinction is an invisible one.
Why Monarchies Often Appear Kinder To The Poor
In fact, monarchies can often bring much better conditions for poor people.
Because as a family tradition, royal families hold feasts for the poor at certain times.
If the queen has a baby, if the king marries off his son, or if an international political victory—also an economic victory—is achieved, long banquet tables are immediately set up, and not only noble families but also the poor receive their share of this celebration.
Fear, Elections, And The Hunger Of The Poor
An elected leader, on the other hand, waits for the next election with fear.
What if they are not elected the next time?
That is why they look for the poor only during election periods.
And the poor are so hungry that their vote can be changed with a bag of potatoes.
Why Power Quickly Creates Distance
Why do parties that win elections distance themselves from the people so quickly afterward?
At the beginning, a group of people who deeply address the three fundamental needs wants to come to power.
At this stage, they have great ideals.
We often see many political leaders who lived in slums, struggled with water and electricity problems, were undernourished, and could not receive proper education adapt very quickly to their new situation once they come to power.
Even if they work to improve conditions in certain neighborhoods locally, we realize that they no longer deal with the problem as a whole.
This Is Not Only About Politicians
This does not happen only to political leaders.
If you grew up in a poor family and gained better opportunities in adulthood, the same thing happens to you.
You send money for a while to your uncle or nephew living in the village, and then you forget them—or you want to forget them.
Comfort And Forgetting
We humans want to forget bad experiences.
Political leaders are also human beings.
They enter parliament and gain a regular and substantial income.
They start dressing well and eating well.
They want to forget the street where the tap ran rusty water and the road was muddy.
When Nations Think The Same Way
The same applies to the development of countries.
If our own country is economically strong, if we have won wars, if we can eat well and live in beautiful homes, the poverty and demands of other countries begin to look hostile to us.
It feels as if being a poor country is their fault.
Being a rich country, on the other hand, appears to be a clear sign of how “smart” we are.
No One Is Exempt From This Psychology
Attributing this psychology to a single person, an institution, a politician, or a company would be great naïveté.
Because none of us is exempt from this tendency.
A person who earns more than others economically immediately changes their environment.
The people around them change.
The quality of the food they eat and the home they live in improves.
All of this makes it much easier to forget old memories.
So What Is The Solution?
So what is the solution?
Never blaming.
As I said before, all humans have this tendency to some degree.
A System Built On Fundamental Needs
In a system where the three fundamental needs are guaranteed, no one blames outsiders, leaders, politics, the rich, workers, or employers.
Because at the core of this system is focusing on our fundamental needs, no matter who we are.
The Only Real Enemy
For thousands of years, we have assumed that people outside ourselves were enemies and fought them.
Yet we have only one real enemy: our own indecision.
Knowing What We Truly Need
If I do not know what I truly need, what can a political leader do for me?
They can do nothing.
Even if a king gave me his treasures, I would still not be permanently happy.
Because I do not possess what I truly need:
Healthy food for everyone,
Safe living spaces for everyone,
The meaning of life through the education of “love your neighbor as yourself.”
One Demand, One System
There is only one thing we must demand from each other and from ourselves.
That is a system that guarantees these three needs.
The Leaders Of A New Era
This ideal is waiting for the leaders who will change the entire world.
In the coming years, we will see the people who can turn this ideal into reality come to the forefront, and the need for them will increase.
Why This Time Is Different
Moreover, I am very hopeful about this.
Because in the past, it was very easy for us to forget where we came from and what pushed us onto this path.
But today, the attention span of young people ranges between 2 and 5 seconds.
In other words, we can escape from life for only 2 to 5 seconds.
The Age Of Memory And Observation
Cameras will now be everywhere.
Thanks to artificial intelligence, all our tendencies and purchasing behaviors will be recorded.
It is not surprising that artificial intelligence technology is related to memory.
The Modern Meaning Of The Book Of Deeds
We already know this from a concept accepted by all religions for thousands of years: the book of deeds.
It is said that angels stand on a person’s right and left sides and record all the good and bad deeds they perform throughout their life.
AI-powered surveillance systems will evolve into exactly this.
They will be the “angels” that record what we buy, where we go, and how we live.
We could not see them before.
Now they will be everywhere.
A Time Of Clear Accountability
Therefore, it will become possible to question whether all our actions are done to guarantee the three fundamental needs or whether they harm others.
Everyone will be able to access these results openly.
We need to adapt to this era.
It is no longer possible to hide either our wrongdoings or our good deeds.
Making A Conscious Choice
Today, we will make a decision.
We will say, “For the rest of my life, I want the following written in my book of deeds.”
And the angels will begin to write:
What Will Be Written In The Book Of Deeds
This person reflected deeply on how healthy food could be provided for all humanity.
For this purpose, they prepared projects to transform the Earth into food forests.
This person wanted to build safe housing for all people.
They researched the technological and psychological components required for this.
They thought about how obstacles could be used as stepping stones for progress.
This person wrote the curriculum of the “love your neighbor as yourself” education corridors.
They identified the personal ambitions that stood in the way of doing this.
And they focused on how even these negative traits could be used in service of the goal.
