How Can We Build True Trust And What Are Our Three Basic Needs?
The Importance Of The Mother Tongue And The Difficulty Of Conveying Emotion In A Foreign Language
Hello. I am Pınar İkbal Han Polat. Actually, this name is quite long. The name I normally use is Pınar. But I have been thinking about starting and opening this YouTube channel for a very long time, but I just could not find the opportunity. There are a few very important reasons why I could not find the opportunity. One of these, and the most important one for me, was the necessity of making a decision between the English language and my mother tongue, Turkish. Beyond this, I have an issue. That is, a way of thinking that I have been working on for a very long time, that I have read about, learned about, and arrived at as a result of all the texts that have passed through my hands; if you have followed it, you can easily understand this way of thinking from the short videos, and you will grasp what I mean the first moment you see it. Actually, what I have read during all this time... What I mean by "all this time" is this: They say I do not show my age a bit, but I am actually 40 years old. And I have read so many books all this time. I even forgot the names of many of the books I have read. I am not saying this for this reason; I am not saying it to be arrogant, to say, "Oh, I have read a lot, I know a lot." This is more about this, actually it is a curse most of the time, just so you know. I mean, if you are a person who learns something and cannot handle the emotion of what you know very much like me, reading a lot is not a blessing. In fact, on the contrary, it turns into something that bothers you, that keeps you awake at night like this. That is why, if you are a sensitive person, I do not even recommend you to read. So, if you ask me, it is not for everyone. But if there is one thing that is for everyone, it is the guaranteeing of the three basic needs. I understood from what I read that this is something necessary regardless of what level we are at. As I said, I was undecided about whether to continue this channel by talking like this, that is, by explaining things. Because on the one hand, I learned a new language. I learned English, okay, I can express myself. But I realized that I could not give the emotions I gave in Turkish. And I still do not laugh at some jokes I hear in English, I do not understand them. I do not shy away from saying this either. Because there is such a thing; what can we do? After all, everyone cannot just get up and go live abroad. They might not have the means, their lifestyle might not have allowed it. They might have some responsibilities in their own country, in the country they live in. I just learned that it is impossible to speak a second or third foreign language like a mother tongue. I mean, of course you can speak it. I am saying it in this sense; you can really express a subject very well. But when it comes to conveying the emotion, the work stops there. I mean, when I look at you and say a Turkish word, I can never give the emotion I give to it, the feeling I give to it in the English language. And I thought I was the only one who could not do this. It turns out that was not the case. No one could do this. I mean, even the people we watch with great admiration and say, "Wow, what beautiful conferences this person gives, how beautifully they speak, they speak the foreign language like their mother tongue," cannot express themselves in a foreign language one hundred percent if their mother tongue is not the language they heard directly from their mothers. As far as I know, this is called cognitive load. When that is the case, as I said, I stopped blaming myself.
The Depth Of Words: Is A Tree Just A Tree?
And of course, I have loved it since the old days, I really love Turkish literature. I also think that Ottoman dictionaries should be read. Because it cannot be thought too independently. I mean, in our society, when these words are used intentionally, that is, deliberately, it is still not very pleasant, but when we use Ottoman words and Persian words within their naturalness, we can still express it emotionally in our language world. I care about this too. So, on the one hand, I do not want to lose this either. Because after a certain age, the things a person can do or wants to do become clear. And turning to those areas, trying to express oneself in those areas does not actually mean confining oneself to an area. On the contrary, while specializing in that area, it means being able to connect that main subject to the additional things one will learn. And a person builds themselves with the addition of new words they have learned in a foreign language to the thing that revolves among a person's neural networks, in those cells inside their brain. I advise everyone to learn other European languages, especially English, and I think the languages spoken in the Middle East if they can. Of course, what I mean by advice is this; it is not something like, "I am an expert, here I am advising you this." I just noticed this: If we are learning a new word, interestingly, in any language, it enriches our own mother tongue. I mean, while most people try to get rid of their mother tongue, they are actually doing something very beneficial to their own mother tongue without knowing it. Because while trying to learn a second and third concept, for example, you add it to Turkish. When you say "table" in English, you are really not talking about the same thing as the table in Turkish. Because the table entered your life much, much later. It entered theirs much earlier compared to us. So, for that reason, their thought worlds related to the table, their experiences related to the table are different from ours. And when you start reading texts and books where they use the word table, it leads to expansions like, "Oh yes, so the table also has these functions and these meanings." Maybe I can explain what I mean with something we are not unfamiliar with. Now, if you are a person who does not read many books, the first thing that comes to your mind when we say tree might be an apple tree. You might think you mean the plants planted at certain intervals while walking on the sidewalk in the street. But at the same time, we know this: people who have deepened a bit more, read, but at the same time compared what they read with data in life, can very easily distinguish that in Anatolian culture, the tree represents a protective, watching over, productivity-showing, and even sometimes symbolically a protective function under its branches and a feminine element. I mean, for them, a tree is no longer just a tree. It also expresses a maternal concept. And in Anatolian culture, the Anatolian people have an inseparable bond with the soil and the tree. Sometimes by reading this, we find the thing we lost again. And sometimes naturally, that is, taught by our mother, our father, or whatever they call it now, geographical gene? (I do not know exactly what it is, those who do research in this field know better); some information, some feelings that draw us towards that side and cause us to no longer look at the tree just as a tree are also loaded. And if we add to this what the term tree in English means, we actually double or triple the potential of our thought in our own mother tongue. Because it does not mean the same things. It does not give the same feelings. I mean, as you understand that the same object means different things from geography to geography, that a color in one geography corresponds to other meanings and feelings in another geography, you now discover where you can use it in your life by turning it around, and sometimes even how you can use it to manipulate people. And after a certain period of time, when you realize that there are more valuable things beyond manipulating, you discover how to use these correctly and encourage people to look from the window you are in.
The Fundamental Issue Of Humanity: The Will To Power And The Three Basic Needs
All of these are things that develop with reading over time. I mean, it is like this: As they say, "Only someone who has fallen off a donkey understands the state of someone who has fallen off a donkey." Or different versions immediately come to your mind: "He who falls from the roof understands the state of him who falls from the roof." Falling off a donkey and falling off a roof are not the same thing. For example, in terms of the effect it creates, the damage it causes, people shape and change these concepts according to the situations and the lifestyles of the geography they are in. Since this is the case, at one point I tried to express myself with painting; if you have already watched the short videos, you have seen it. Also, I discovered within myself that concepts should fundamentally be directed towards our purpose of existing in this world. I think there is a high probability that what I have discovered and what you have discovered are not the same. Because of the difficulties people have experienced, we can specifically talk about economic difficulties; because this is a common problem all over the world, both in the past and today. Man has a will to power. He wants to rule, he wants to dominate, and the sole element through which he can do this is the economy. Can I explain? I mean, if you are economically stronger, it means you are strong. If you are strong, you rule, and the whole story is just about this. I mean, it was like this in the past, and it will be like this in the future. Religions are also related to this, historical heroes are also related to this. Then, geographical advantages and I don't know what else are also related to this. And there are three very important elements that the economy depends on. I mean, there are three basic pillars. And I can now state very clearly that these pillars are the following. I mean, there is no point in trying to twist and turn and break this. "No, there is also a fourth pillar," or something, no sir. Really, if I have understood anything from all the things I have read, what I have seen for so many years is this: This business has only three legs, and structures that keep these three legs solid among themselves can already hold the power in their hands. One of these is food security. I mean, food must be provided. These people guarantee food to each other. The second is housing guarantee. I mean, this needs to be on a piece of land. This is an issue of property, that is, a matter of shelter. You will have a roof over you. And the third is this; something that exists in all religious structures, all religious teachings, all moral structures, or in the establishment of a new state, which is the universal law of "love your neighbor as yourself." I mean, the feeling that I will want for my friend next to me what I want for myself. Now, when you do this in a restricted area, it becomes disproportionately strong and usually reaches the point of subjugating others, and then these three pillars quickly begin to shake anyway. Because after a while, we see that the people who provide this among themselves also start fighting. Actually, throughout the entire historical process, the heroic stories and so on that impress us are also fundamentally based on these three basic needs. I mean, one, it will be guaranteed that we will have food. Two, we will have a house. We will have a roof over our heads where we can sleep safely. I mean, no one will come and kill us, no one will come and confiscate what we own. This is the second. And the third is the teaching of "love your neighbor as yourself" or "love your friend as yourself" that actually guarantees these first two. I mean, the concept of "we". That is, grouping together to be able to guarantee these two things. A person knows this: When they form a group, the probability of having these two is higher. Right? For example, in its simplest form, you can discover this in your own life: Why do we go and feed our own child and think about them every day? For example, we wake up in the morning and have feelings like, "Oh, is my child hungry? Is my child covered? If they got uncovered at night, maybe they got cold," right? Why? Because they are closer to us. Because they actually remain within that third structure we mentioned, that is, within the issue of "love your neighbor as yourself," within that set. But today in the world, we all know very well that there are many children who are in a miserable state. They have no bread to eat, no water to drink, they have not seen a proper family. The struggle with these was like this in the past, and it will probably continue to be so in the near future. I say in the near future because there is a historical cycle, a phase. We have now reached the end of those cycles again. I mean, we are a generation that is very close to those breaking points where things get messy economically in the world and people say, "Oh enough, what am I going to do, what will my future be?" Therefore, I will say we are lucky on the one hand, but I do not feel that way at all. If they were to ask me, "Would you like to live in such a period?" I would probably say no. Because this is such a period stuck in between, the criterion for success, for example, is very different. The concept of success has nothing to do with whether you do something well or not. If there is a structure that can already buy people on the one hand, it buys them and can use them for its own benefit. When that is already the case, the reason you feel bad personally is no longer because you are not hardworking or because you have not achieved a good job or anything. It is completely based on a lack of trust. And there is something called this "trust index." Maybe there are people among you who have read about this subject and have knowledge. The issue is trust. (I am sorry, I live on a pretty busy street. So there might be noise coming from outside). We will talk about this issue of trust in detail later on as well.
Why I Gave Up On Editing And The Reality Of Artificial Intelligence
I am sorry. Maybe I can cut this part. But I want to make the videos unedited, I especially want to make them unedited. Because believe me, I have grown weary over the years. This is not my first channel. I have started many YouTube channels over the years. Some reached a certain point, some could not. But as I said, my views and thoughts have changed. I mean, I am tired of the editing work. Editing work is really a separate job and I do not want to do it anymore. A saturation has formed in me. I mean, cut that, crop that, take these parts out and so on... There were those who said: "Well, this is also out of the respect you must hear for the audience. Of course you will edit, what is your job anyway!" and so on. But let me say this; I have decided not to see myself as a YouTuber or anything anymore. I think the end of that has come too, if you look at it. Because there is so much content, there are so many edited videos! In fact, there is no need for me to even get in front of the camera and explain things anymore, for example. Because you speak in front of the camera for about a minute or two, then you give this to artificial intelligence. After that, you also give it the text of what you want it to speak; artificial intelligence can write the texts anyway, you give that too. Then a prototype of you imitating you speaks on the screen. I mean, it really came to a point like "What is the need for us to speak?" Therefore, in the future, if there is really someone who wants to listen to me, I want them to listen and listen with my mistakes. Let them listen with my slips of the tongue. Let them listen with my inability to master words, with my contradictions, and let them accept these flaws along with the mistakes I have made and the mistakes I will make. I mean, we live normally in life. Nobody is perfect and never will be.
Overcoming Our Fears And Applying The Sacred Law
Anyway, let me get back to our topic. Look how many things opened up from the noise and sound outside. One of these is the issue of trust. Yes, we need to return to this topic. Why is the issue of trust so important? Because actually, fundamentally, we are afraid of dying. We are all very afraid of dying. We are constantly afraid of something happening to us. And just to forget this fear, if we cannot guarantee ourselves in terms of food and housing (sorry, I touched the microphone, a bad sound probably came out there), we first try to create an environment for ourselves. And in periods like the times we live in, people's trust in each other drops immensely. I mean, physically talking face to face with a person comes to the point of accepting certain risks at some point. You have even heard this: A woman is walking on the road after a certain hour. There are no lamps, no security, no cameras on that road. Then a man runs behind the woman and snatches the woman's bag and leaves. In such a scenario, society is generally more understanding; rebellions like "How can that be, snatching is a crime, why is our security not provided!" are more common here. But if the woman was harassed there, if the pervert running behind her bothered the woman (by the way, this applies to my father too, when such a bad thing happened, my father used to say to me, "Well, you shouldn't have passed there at that hour, my daughter, how many times have I told you not to pass that road!"), then the more cruel version of this circulates on social media. It says: "Why did you, as a woman, go down that road, you shouldn't have gone." Now this is exactly like that, can I explain? That is why the feeling of insecurity is always at the forefront when communicating with people; it starts insecure first, then trust is created within it. The thing we call trust takes time, like a kind of rug woven stitch by stitch. And things that take time are not valued by everyone. Saying "I have a lot of friends" does not mean they are all my close friends. We all know this now. Actually, the fewer people we spend a long time with, the more we can deepen those relationships. This does not mean this; let's sacrifice other people, let's create a society completely closed to ourselves and let's not allow this closed society to be corrupted by others. Although this is true to some extent - it might seem like a fundamental law that must essentially be kept, and it is largely true, and if applied, its great benefit is seen - but periodically, this area needs to be expanded and new groups need to be formed too. I mean, this is also a part of human development. Only if that happens can you maintain the existing structure. I say this generally as the "existing structure." I mean, whatever it is you want to do, since your main purpose is to live and as I said, since we cannot survive without guaranteeing these three things, there needs to be a society built upon this. We already do this consciously or unconsciously, but the best is to do it consciously, deliberately. I mean, a healthy life is only possible within a community of people who give food security to each other, give housing security to each other, and have promised to want for others the good things they want for themselves. When we look at it from this perspective, humanity has never reached this stage in a sustainable, one hundred percent way. It could not reach it, but I think it is getting closer and closer. Because this was not spoken of with this clarity in the past. I mean, people thought like this: For example, a war happened, they came to points like, "Well, the world has become very bad, it is no longer worth living," and so on. But actually, every war has brought people closer to each other at some point. It has brought all states to the awareness of these three basic needs. They established things that did not exist much in the past during the kingdoms period. For example, it says; there is a castle, there are storage areas inside this castle, grains will be stored in granaries. Systems like the noble families guaranteeing themselves and making plans to kidnap the king as a last resort in case of any war or danger. But this information is spreading so much now that... Especially in our period; a rumor comes out, they say "There will be a famine," and so on. Now we are all in a position to take lentils and put them in the drawer, throw biscuits in the corner at some point. When that is the case, inevitably all governments, whether democratic regimes or other types of regimes, make various investments to provide food security - even if they do not show it on the surface - in order to ensure their continuity. I mean, guaranteeing these three basic needs is no longer a secret. And based exactly on this, I can easily say this: We can and must consciously guarantee this. There are different reasons for this. One of these is related to the survival instinct. The second is with the things you are trying to do... For example, let's say you have a hobby, you want to continue this. And while continuing this hobby, you have some materials in your hand. To speak for myself; you have your watercolors, your sketchbook, a study desk, you have a beautiful light so you can draw more comfortably and show it well on camera while drawing the picture. Actually, you put all these opportunities together, but inside you there is a restlessness, an insecurity... Sometimes it used to happen to me, "Oh the world is getting worse, what if a war breaks out!" and so on. It is true that it does not happen these days, but there is no guarantee that it will not happen after this either. Or let's say we go on a journey; we have feelings that are inside all of us, that keep us awake, that hinder the things we are trying to do, like "What if there is a traffic accident, what if I die," and so on. Nobody generally pays attention to these, but actually, lying at the very foundation of these fears is that third pillar I mentioned to you; the sacred law of "love your neighbor as yourself"... These fears are exactly the feelings that come from living in an environment where that sacred law is not applied. If you were already living in an environment where that law is applied, these fears are minimized very, very much. And after that point, the thing you experience might come to the stage of "This is my fate" by you at some point. Yes, let's end this video here. I have been talking for half an hour. There are many more topics I want to talk about. I especially want to talk to you about this; in the later episodes, I will probably read things and we will explain them together from this perspective, from the principle of these three basic needs. And I will actually see this as an experiment in our lives. I mean, how many people will watch these videos? What does our society, speaking for Turkish-speaking people, think about these three basic needs? What are their criticisms and their own thoughts regarding themselves, that is, regarding the guaranteeing of these three basic needs? What should it be according to them? We will be discussing such topics in detail in the following videos. As I said, I will not do editing, and I do not want to do it either. I got very bored of doing edits. See you in the next shoot, goodbye.
